Deb Smith

Deb is a teacher who specialises in the early years and students with disabilities. Deb has been a Toastmaster for 7 years. She is a member of Bunya and Seechange clubs. Deb is married with three adult children with a growing number of grandchildren on the way. With a busy home, work and being active in several community organisations Deb needs to manage time carefully. She has a determined passion in relation to the possibilities of extending the communication and leadership potential of the members of Metro Division. Deb is committed to supporting members develop transferable skills, through Toastmasters programs, so that they can improve the quality of their lives.

Carla Simpson

Carla is an experience project manager and works in the government sector. Her interests include furthering the advancement of project management as a profession, mentoring and being actively involved in Project Management Institute and Toastmasters.

Carla is the inaugural PMIQ Toastmasters Club President and Metro Division Secretary.

Kim Godfrey

Kim is an experienced Project Manager, PMP, Prince2 and ITIL version 3 certified and has a strong business focus, eye for detail, and excellent capacity to manage budget, time, scope and quality for successful project delivery. In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening, hiking and yoga.

Kim joined Toastmasters to learn more about leadership and public speaking, particularly in an Australian context as I immigrated from Europe in Sept 2009.

Terry Hickson

After joining Pines Toastmasters in mid-2004, Terry later became a dual member of SeeChange Club.Over a six year period he has served in both clubs as SAA, Secretary, VPE and President. Each experience has helped to broaden his perspective within Toastmasters.

Terry is looking forward to working with the other members of the Metropolitan Division team.

Nev Heales

Nev has been a member of Toastmasters for more than 20 years and has attained his DTM.  Presently he holds the positions of VPM at Pines Club # 669 and VPPR at QR Toastmasters Club # 843212.

He is driven by a desire to see others reach their potential and to witness as many sunrises in this life as possible.

Annette Odell

Annette grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, the “City of Sails”, and from early days had a love of the sea and sailing. She studied Civil Engineering at Auckland University and started her career in water, wastewater and environmental engineering, later progressing to an interest in project management. She has two sons, now (almost) grown up who are both also living in Australia. Annette came to Australia in 1999 and spent the next 8 years in Far North Queensland, before coming to settle on the Redcliffe Peninsula in 2007. She has been a bakery owner, a commercial boat skipper, a live-aboard yachtie and a bus driver, and is sure the future holds many more exciting challenges.

Annette joined Peninsula Toastmasters in 2008, mainly for social reasons, and found she enjoys humorous speaking and the challenges of club leadership. She is president of Peninsula club for 2011/12 as well as Toastmasters Learning Institute Co-ordinator for Metropolitan Division. Her current goal is to gain employment in the adult education/training area, and she is confident her Toastmasters experience is equipping her for this role.

I am 59 years young married with two adult children who have flown the coop.  I work as a Team Leader with Victim Assist Queensland, Department of Justice.  I have 30 years experience in Policing between 3 Australian States.
